Smart Lock Instructions Customization
Configure the messages shown to guests when using smart locks for room access. These instructions appear on the check-in confirmation screen to help guests understand how to enter their room.
Where to Find It
Settings → Room Access → Smart Lock InstructionsGuest & Staff Impact
- Guests: Get clear step-by-step lock instructions right after check-in.
- Staff: Fewer calls about how to use the lock, especially for first-time smart lock guests.
Message Fields
Main Message
The primary instruction displayed to guests after check-in.
- Purpose: Tell guests what code to use
- Default placeholder: "Use this code to unlock your room"
- Example: "Your door code is below. Enter it on the keypad to access your room."
Secondary Message
Detailed step-by-step instructions for using the lock.
- Purpose: Explain how to physically operate the lock
- Default placeholder: "Tap the keypad on the door lock, enter your code, then press the 'Key' button to unlock the door."
- Example: "Wake the keypad by touching it, enter your 6-digit code, then press the lock icon to open."
Other Instructions
Additional information if needed (usually left blank for smart locks).
- Purpose: Any supplementary information
- Note: For smart locks, this field should typically be left blank
Configuration Steps
Step 1: Navigate to Settings
- Go to Settings → Room Access → Smart Lock Instructions
- You'll see text fields for each message type
Step 2: Enter Instructions
- Click the language tabs to enter messages in each enabled language
- Enter your Main Message (the primary instruction)
- Enter your Secondary Message (detailed steps)
- Leave Other Instructions blank unless needed
- Click Save

Common Lock Instructions
Keypad Locks (PIN Code)
Main: Your door code is displayed below.
Secondary: Touch the keypad to wake it, enter your code, then press the key icon.
Mobile Key Locks
Main: Use your mobile key to unlock the door.
Secondary: Hold your phone near the lock. Ensure Bluetooth is enabled.
Troubleshooting
Guests Can't Find Instructions
- Verify instructions are saved
- Check the check-in confirmation screen displays them
- Ensure smart lock integration is properly configured
Instructions Not Translating
- Enter text in each language tab separately
- Confirm the guest's language is enabled
- Test with a sample check-in
