Set Up the Kiosk Welcome Screen

Quick Setup

This usually takes 5-10 minutes. You can set the text and opacity in one card.

Use this page to customize the CCI kiosk welcome screen. You can change the title, subtitle, check-in and check-out copy, control Request Assistance visibility, and adjust card opacity. The subtitle uses your primary brand color.

Save timing

AVA flushes the latest typed value before you click Save. It also flushes when you leave a field or switch language tabs.

How fallback works

Blank hotel values fall back to the existing CCI translation or default text at runtime. The opacity setting controls only the outer welcome card surface and shadow. Action cards stay solid and readable, even when the outer card is fully transparent. The opacity setting is stored as a 0-1 value, but you edit it as a percentage.

Before You Start

Confirm these basics:

  • You are editing the correct property
  • Your kiosk runs Self Check-In (CCI)
  • You know the copy for each enabled language
  • You want Check-In, Check-Out, and optionally Request Assistance visible on the kiosk

Set Up the Welcome Copy

  1. Go to Settings → Customizations → Kiosk Welcome Screen.

  2. Enter a Welcome Title for each enabled language.

  3. Enter a Welcome Subtitle for each enabled language.

  4. Enter the Check-In Button Label and Check-In Button Description.

  5. Enter the Check-Out Button Label and Check-Out Button Description.

  6. Click Save.

✓ The kiosk welcome payload now includes only these welcome screen fields. ✓ AVA keeps the latest text, even if you save immediately after typing. ✓ If Request Assistance is on, guests see that button in CCI when help is available.

  7. Refresh the kiosk welcome page or open a new kiosk session.

✓ The updated copy should appear on the welcome screen.

Adjust the Welcome Card Opacity

Quick Setup

This usually takes less than 1 minute. You only need to change the slider or percentage box.

Use Welcome Card Opacity when the white card feels too solid or too faint.

  1. Go to Settings → Customizations → Kiosk Welcome Screen.

  2. Find Welcome Card Opacity.

  3. Move the slider or type a percentage.

  4. Click Save.

  5. Refresh the kiosk welcome page.

✓ The card should now match the opacity you set.

Range

AVA clamps values outside the supported range. Use 0% for fully transparent and 100% for the normal card. The action buttons stay opaque at any value.

What You See → Fix

The kiosk still shows old text

What you see: The previous welcome copy still appears after saving.

Fix:

  1. Save the card again.
  2. Refresh the kiosk page.
  3. Open a fresh kiosk session if the old text remains.
  4. Confirm the subtitle and button copy are set in the correct language tab.

One language still shows English

What you see: One language tab shows the default text instead of your copy.

Fix:

  1. Open that language tab.
  2. Enter the missing title, subtitle, or button copy.
  3. Save the card again.
  4. Refresh the kiosk after saving.

The welcome card looks too dark or too faint

What you see: The white card blocks too much of the background, or disappears too much.

Fix:

  1. Go back to Welcome Card Opacity.
  2. Increase the value for a stronger white card.
  3. Decrease the value for a lighter card.
  4. Save again, then refresh the kiosk page.
  5. If the buttons still look faded, open a fresh kiosk session.

The Check-In or Check-Out buttons are missing

What you see: The kiosk shows the title, but not both action buttons.

Fix:

  1. Open Settings → Check-In → Check-In Policy.
  2. Find Kiosk Welcome Buttons.
  3. Turn on the buttons you want.
  4. Save the policy, then reload the kiosk.
  5. Reopen the kiosk if the buttons still look hidden.

The Request Assistance button is missing

What you see: Guests do not see Request Assistance on the kiosk welcome screen.

Fix:

  1. Go to Settings → Customizations → Kiosk Welcome Screen.
  2. Turn on Request Assistance.
  3. Confirm the kiosk is still in Self Check-In (CCI) mode.
  4. Turn on guest lost-keycard replacement in Settings → Security or video calling.
  5. Save the setting, then refresh the kiosk.
