Set Up Day-Use Rate Plans
Most hotels can turn on day use, set a fallback window, and publish one rate plan in about 10 minutes.
Use this guide when you want same-day stays to follow PMS-backed rate plans instead of manual slots. If a PMS plan does not send times, AVA uses the fallback window you set in Settings → Check-In.
Where to Find It
Settings → Check-In Operations → Rates & AvailabilityQuick Reference
| Setting | What It Controls | Who Uses It |
|---|---|---|
| Day use | Enables same-day booking support in Check-In | Front desk staff and kiosks |
| Default window | Fallback check-in and check-out times | Used when a plan does not provide times |
| Day-use rate plan | The PMS-backed plan guests book | Reservations and walk-in quotes |
| Day use badge | Shows a plan is marked for same-day stays | Rate plan list in Rates & Availability |
AVA rate plans can be edited in Streamliner. Mews and OPERA plans show PMS-managed day-use metadata as read-only.
Turn On Day Use
-
Go to Settings → Check-In.
-
Open the Day use section.
-
Turn on Day use.
-
Set Check-in time and Check-out time.
-
Click Save.
✓ Guests now use the fallback window when a rate plan does not include its own times.
Check-out time must be after Check-in time.
Change Only the Day Use Toggle
If you only turn Day use on or off, AVA keeps your saved fallback window. This prevents the times from resetting when you are not changing the window itself.
-
Open the day-use settings or rate plan editor.
-
Change only the Day use toggle.
-
Leave Check-in time and Check-out time unchanged.
-
Click Save.
✓ The stored times stay the same after the toggle update.
Set a Safe Fallback Window
- Pick a check-in time that matches your earliest same-day arrivals.
- Pick a check-out time that leaves enough housekeeping time.
- Keep the window consistent with your property policy.
- Update the times whenever your day-use policy changes.
The fallback window is only used when the PMS rate plan is missing its own times. That keeps booking times consistent during setup gaps.
Create or Edit a Day-Use Rate Plan
-
Click New rate plan or open an existing plan.
-
Enter the plan Name, Base rate, and optional Room type.
-
Turn on Day use.
-
Set Check-in time and Check-out time if the editor allows them.
-
Click Save.
✓ The plan shows a Day use badge in the list.
If the plan is managed by your PMS
- Open the rate plan in Rates & Availability.
- Review the day-use times shown in the editor.
- If the times are read-only, update them in your PMS instead.
- Refresh AVA after the PMS sync completes.
Mews and OPERA plans can show day-use metadata without allowing edits in Streamliner. AVA keeps the PMS values and uses them in reservations.
Use the Plan in Bookings
-
Create a reservation with same-day check-in and check-out dates.
-
Select an eligible day-use rate plan.
-
Review the displayed time window before saving.
-
Save the booking.
✓ AVA uses the plan times, or your fallback window when the plan has no times.
Troubleshooting
The day-use option is missing
What you see: You do not see Day use in Settings or in rate plan editing.
Fix:
- Confirm you have settings write access.
- Confirm your PMS supports day-use plans.
- Refresh the page after the PMS connection loads.
- Ask support if the field still does not appear.
Times are wrong after save
What you see: The saved window does not match what you entered.
Fix:
- Reopen the rate plan or Check-In section.
- Confirm the saved times.
- Check whether the PMS plan is read-only.
- Update the times in your PMS if Streamliner cannot edit them.
Check-out is earlier than check-in
What you see: You get a validation message when saving.
Fix:
- Make sure Check-out time is later than Check-in time.
- Change one of the times.
- Save again.
