Smart Lock Instructions

Quick Setup

Most hotels only edit the Main Message and Secondary Message. This takes about 3 minutes.

This guide helps you customize the instructions guests see after check-in.

Where to find it

Settings → Customizations → Smart Lock Instructions

Message fields

Main Message

The primary instruction displayed to guests after check-in.

  • Purpose: Tell guests which code to use
  • Default placeholder: "Use this code to unlock your room"
  • Example: "Your door code is below. Enter it on the keypad to access your room."

Secondary Message

Detailed step-by-step instructions for using the lock.

  • Purpose: Explain how to operate the lock
  • Default placeholder: "Tap the keypad on the door lock, enter your code, then press the 'Key' button to unlock the door."
  • Example: "Wake the keypad by touching it, enter your 6-digit code, then press the lock icon to open."

Other Instructions

Additional information if needed.

  • Purpose: Extra notes such as shared entrance steps
  • Note: This is often left blank for smart locks

Step-by-step

  1. Go to Settings → Customizations → Smart Lock Instructions.

  2. Select the language tab you want to edit.

  3. Enter your Main Message and Secondary Message.

  4. Optional: add Other Instructions.

  5. Click Save.

    ✓ Guests see the new text on the check-in confirmation screen.

Sample instructions

Keypad locks (PIN code)

Main: Your door code is displayed below.
Secondary: Touch the keypad to wake it, enter your code, then press the key icon.

Mobile key locks

Main: Use your mobile key to unlock the door.
Secondary: Hold your phone near the lock and keep Bluetooth on.

Troubleshooting

Guests cannot find the instructions

What you see: The check-in confirmation screen shows no lock guidance.

Fix:

  1. Verify the instructions are saved.
  2. Confirm Smart Lock (PIN) is selected in Room Access.
  3. Test with a new check-in.

Instructions are not translating

What you see: Only the default language shows.

Fix:

  1. Enter text in each language tab.
  2. Confirm the guest language is enabled.
  3. Re-check the confirmation screen.
